Corporate Survey
An annual report that highlights the value of MNC’s to the country through publication of the performance of the group.
This is the 17th annual survey (Corporate Performance Survey) in 22 years conducted by the Wallace Business Forum (WBF) among its corporate members, mostly multinational corporations (MNCs) operating in the Philippines and large Filipino companies with regional presence. The survey determined the WBF members’ contribution to the Philippine economy, their assessment of the operating conditions in the country, and their perception of the Philippines as an investment location.
As in most surveys conducted in the past, the answers were essentially unchanged. The government is the weak link in promoting investment into the country, being unable to assure investors of a predictable policy environment, stable politics, incorruptible leaders, efficient bureaucracy, and respect for contracts and the rule of law. These issues have become so serious they’re beginning to outweigh the country’s best features, such as its workers, people, and Western-oriented culture. In fact, these strengths are now slowly being eroded by negative impact, for example, of weak governance on the country’s educational system.
